- Brush out your hair so it will be easier to work with.
- Make a part from your temple and make a semi-C shape down around your ear and towards your neck. It doesn't have to be a large section. Keep the section out of the way by clipping it to the side.
- Repeat that on the opposite side of your head.
- If you are doing this on someone else tip their head really far back so you can see the top of their head.
- Start doing a french braid. (It's like a normal braid except each stitch you add in a section of hair.) Take relatively small sections so it will be a nice tight braid.
- When you get to the crown of your head stop adding in sections and do a few normal stitches. Secure it with an elastic and flip it up and over so it's out of the way.
- Repeat steps 5 and 6 but starting from the top of your neck up to the crown. (upside down)
- When you are at the other braid, do a couple of normal stitches. Join the two braids together and keep them together with your hands. Take out the first elastic you used to secure the first braid.
- To cover the part lines, you want to take the hair you clipped to the side and take it up into your hands with the rest of your hair. Do that on the other side.
- Once you have everything together get an elastic and secure it all together. You can leave it as a ponytail, (but it does hide the bottom braid) or you can put it in a bun by twisting it and arranging it into a bun or you can do a braid bun. Most people like doing a messy bun with this hairstyle.
- To do a messy bun, you want to go back into the elastic and tie it off one more time but don't pull it through completely. (pull it out all the way to the ends.) Then rearrange it into a bun shape and pin it down.
- Now you know how to do a double french messy bun!!!
