- Brush your hair out so it will be easier to work with.
- Part your hair (If you want you can do the dutch braid on the back of your head without a part)
- Start off in the section you want your braid and get three small-medium sections of hair. (make sure the section are equal)
- Bring the far left section of hair under the middle section.
- Do the same to the right section. (Bringing the hair under the middle section.)
- Like a french braid, add hair to the far right section, and bring that section under the middle section.
- Do the same to the left section. (add hair to the left then bring it under)
- When you are doing this braid, since its a side braid make sure you are braiding towards the back of your head (diagonally/on an angle)
- While you're braiding make sure to add the hair from the side of the head (where your braid isn't)
- Repeat steps 6 and 7 until you run out of hair to add into your braid or if you are at the bottom of your head and you still have lots of hair, equally divide the extra hair into three sections and then add each section to the other section (So adding hair to each section.
- Once you get to the bottom of your head, continue the braid to the ends of your hair.
- Tie the braid off with an elastic to keep the braid from undoing itself or if you're going for a more messy look, hold the bottom of your braid with your left hand and with your right hand, go back in and mess the braid up by gently pulling out the inside of your braid. If you have bangs try not to pull out the top part of your braid too much or else you will have layers sticking out.
- If the other side of your head is loose make sure to add bobby pins to make sure that side won't come undone.
